10 years ago today I sat in your chair wanting desperately to give up smoking. My father had had a heart attack the same week and life was pretty stressful. While I was, 'under' I remember thinking, "this is never going to work, I can't wait to get out of here and have a cigarette". To my surprise when I left your office I did not want a cigarette, and in the last 10 years I have not had one. I was a big smoker, I remember you saying to me, "you are the type of smoker where one is too many and a packet is never enough", you were right. I was a smoker on and off since I was a teenager but could never completely quit. I would always end up back on them when I got bored or if I was out socialising with friends and family since many of them were smokers - especially if drinks were involved. Cigarettes were a comfort to me. I was the type of smoker who would normally smoke 15 to 20 a day but on evenings out I would keep up with anyone who was smoking around me and I could easily go through a packet of 40-50 in an evening without even realising it. I desperately wanted to quit but didn't feel I was strong enough to do it on my own. I attended the Stop Smoking group seminar in Mount Gambier on the 25th March 2008 and I haven't touched a cigarette since. In fact, I was able to go over to my friends place an hour later (who I used to smoke with) and have a coffee with her while she smoked and I felt NOTHING, no impulse to smoke, no cravings or anything while I watched her puff away on the cigarettes. I was amazed that I didn't suffer from the usual withdrawal symptoms I would normally get when trying to quit. It has been almost 4 years since I quit smoking and now the thought of cigarettes repulse me and I am very sensitive to the smell of smoke. Going to the session was one of the best things I have ever done in my life!

I attended the hypnosis session in Perth and have never touched a cigarette since. That date is engraved in my memory because it is the date that has changed my life.

Just a note to say it is now 10 months since my sister and I quit smoking thanks to you!
We were both smoking about 50 per day. I had not really made a full commitment to quit... I had agreed to be my sisters quit buddy when she really needed to quit due to health issues.

I wanted to stop smoking and had tried numerous methods. I heard of the Winkler method through a friend who had used it and had succeeded in quitting.
I was apprehensive about being hypnotized in the respect of whether it would work for me or not. The first two days after the session I was very emotional and felt that I had lost a friend but didn't feel like lighting up a smoke - a mild craving but that was it.
With the strategies that I was given I was able to use them when a little craving came and coped with it. For a person nearly smoking a packet a day I could cope with it - I felt great and feel great.
It is exactly three weeks since my session and I am feeling great. The slight cravings have disappeared. I only wished I had known about this type of hypnotherapy years ago instead of wasting my money on other ways of quitting smoking.
I'd recommend to anyone wanting to give up to give it a go - you really can't loose anything except a horrible habit.

Before I had the session I used to smoke an average of thirty cigarettes per day. I often awoke in the middle of the night, having to go downstairs into my kitchen two or three times to have a cigarette.
I had my session in September 1995, and since that time I have not found it necessary to have a cigarette nor had any craving for one.
When I went to have my session, I expected a lot of "Hocus Pocus" when I was to be hypnotized. Instead what I found was that the therapist spoke to my subconscious mind and I was either able to listen to him, fall asleep or listen to some background music. The whole process took around an hour. The hypnotic process, was quite pleasurable.
I have no hesitation in recommending The Winkler Hypnotic Method to any person wishing to stop smoking. I have recommended a number of my friends all of whom to date have also been able to stop smoking and are quite grateful to the help.

I must admit that when I approached The Winkler Hypnotic Method to help me stop smoking, I was a little skeptical and somewhat worried about what the process would be like. The session was fantastic.
Right through the whole process, I was told exactly what was going to happen and what I could expect to experience. The closest thing that I can relate to being in a hypnotic state is a very relaxing meditation. You are totally aware of what is happening at all times, and when you finish it feels like you have just had the best sleep ever and you are ready to take on the world.
